I am a helmet snob. Rightfully so, and you don't usually catch me without an Arai helmet protecting my noggin. However, I have tried several helmets over the years to see what else was out there. Usually I am left disappointed and putting my Arai back on.

I decided to test out the LS2 Pioneer dual sport helmet, and much to my surprise, I really like it! The Pioneer has a long oval shape that fits my head perfectly. You don't have to worry about any distortion from the face shield either, the LS2 visors are bulit with 3D Optically Correct "A Class" Polycarbonate, a space-age polymer with high resistance to impact, that avoids distortion and offers maximum clarity. The helmets feature a Dynamic Flow-­through Ventilation. Fully adjustable intake ports and vented EPS work with the rear spoiler and exhaust ports to create a constant, light flow of air helping to keep the rider cool and comfortable. It has an extremely lightweight 3 shell layout and is certified ECE 22.05, arguably a better certification than SNELL. The Pioneer uses hypoallergenic and quick drying internal materials, and features a quick release chin strap for extra comfort and usability.

I do find the LS2 to be a fairly loud helmet when at higher speeds, and I strongly recommend ear plugs if you are going to be using it for this purpose. At the end of the day, I will still reach for my Arai XD4 for road/adventure riding... But the LS2 Pioneer makes a great helmet for enduro racing and trail riding.
