November Training at CMT Campground 2016
We returned to the lovely Cherohala Mountain Trails Campground once again to host both a Ladies of Dirt 101 as well as a Trails Less Traveled 201. Seven ladies joined Marisa for the Ladies of Dirt 101, and Seven guys joined in for the Trails Less Traveled 201.

We lucked out with perfect weather for the weekend. A little frost on the ground in the morning, but as the sun came out, it warmed up and made for perfect riding weather!
The women started by learning to pick up their bikes. I am a firm believer that if you can't pick up the bike, you shouldn't ride it! Proper technique is needed to pick up the bike without injury. Once we practiced picking up the bikes, we moved on to slow speed drills that focused on body positioning, slow speed control, clutch control, and balance. Each one of the ladies absorbed all the information and gave 110% during our practice sessions. I was happy to see the encouragement they gave each other as they tried doing things on the motorcycle they never had before!
After lunch we set out on what some of the women would call their first dual sport ride! We touched the gravel for the first time, and their faces lit up with excitement! Even found a beautiful waterfall - Bald River Falls!
The guys 201 course practiced some intermediate skills such as riding in ruts, off camber riding, starting and stopping on hills, and log obstacles. The guys ride Saturday afternoon consisted of following power line trails off of the Cherohala Skyway. We heard many stories around the table at dinner time!
Fun was had by all this weekend. Thanks to everyone who came out to train and ride with us. We love sharing our passion for motorcycling and adventure!!
Till next time
